Alpine is one of San Diego’s most eastern communities along the I-8. Alpine, which is bordered both to the north and to the east by Cleveland National Forest, is home to 13,000 residents. In abundance in Alpine are trees and greenery due to its forest location. Also because of this location, Alpine is home to many exciting recreational opportunities including hiking trails and camping areas. Located to the north is El Capitan Reservoir, which is a favorite destination for adventure-seeking residents because of its picturesque views and stunning evening sunsets.

A tight-knit community is found in Alpine and several annual events help to bring this community together on a regular basis. Each April, Alpine holds Clean Alpine, an event that encourages neighborhood living standards, living green, recycling, and a use and recognition of the area’s natural resources. Every September, Alpine hosts Alpine Viejas Western Days and Parade, which is an event full of family events and entertainment, including delicious food tasting and cultural reviews. To kick off the holiday season, Alpine holds the Alpine Village Christmas Light Parade in the last week in November.

Alpine has its own school system, though it is a small community. The Alpine Union School District provides excellent K-12 educational opportunities for all residents. Made up of 6 schools that are each catered to a specific purpose, Alpine’s school district is successful and unique. For pre-kindergarten ages, there is Creekside Early Learning Center and Alpine Elementary School and the Boulder Oaks Elementary School, a California Distinguished School, both serve grades K-5. For grades 6-8, there is Joan MacQueen Middle School serves grades six through eight. Once youth reach high school, they must go outside the community’s perimeter’s for education, but the drive and commute is not inconvenient.
